Parsley liquor

Pie and mash (with liquor) is a traditional working-class food, originating in the East End of London. Pie, mash and eel shops have been in London since the 19th century, and are still common in East and South London and many parts of Kent and Essex. In previous times eels were kept alive in the shops and only killed and cooked when needed. The liquid left over after cooking, the liquor, was then seasoned and thickened to be used as a gravy. Due to the large decline in the number of people consuming eels our liquor, in common with many other pie shops, does not contain any animal products. Since 1890 Goddard's have made and sold traditional pie mash and liquor in London. Our large pie shop in Greenwich serves the same traditional pies and liquor that can be found on this website. All of our pies and fresh liquor are handmade using traditional techniques and our family recipes. You can order your fresh liquor securely online with delivery to your door. Our overnight couriers can deliver on the following days each week:

Our fresh liquor boxes have prices that include delivery to any address on the UK mainland. It is therefore possible to choose delivery to your home, place of work or to friends & family. Please place your food in the fridge as soon as possible. Our instant liquor is unique to Goddard's and is made in the UK to our own recipe. This is the simplest and easiest way to enjoy liquor whenever you need to. This is made by adding boiling water and whisking for a few seconds then enjoy! Instant liquor is provided in a resealable pouch which can be kept in your kitchen cupboard. Unless ordered with fresh pies, this product will be posted to you using Royal Mail and takes a few days to arrive. We will also provide a reheating guide to help.
